emergency care
At Keystone Dental Center, we understand that dental emergencies can be stressful and often happen unexpectedly. Our goal is to provide timely care, relieve discomfort, and help you determine the best path forward for treatment.
What Is Considered a Dental Emergency?
Dental emergencies may include:
Tooth pain or severe sensitivity
Swelling of the gums, face, or jaw
Broken or chipped teeth
Knocked-out teeth
Lost fillings or crowns
Infection or abscess
Trauma to the teeth or jaw
Bleeding that does not stop
If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, we encourage you to contact our office (719-596-0212) as soon as possible so we can help determine the urgency of your situation.
What to Expect During an Emergency Appointment
Emergency visits are problem-focused examinations designed to identify and address your most immediate concern.
During your emergency appointment, we may:
Discuss your symptoms and history
Take limited X-rays as needed
Perform a focused clinical exam
Diagnose the problem
Provide recommendations for treatment
Depending on the situation, we may also:
Provide same-day treatment when appropriate
Prescribe medication if needed
Recommend follow-up care
Refer to a specialist when necessary
Because emergency visits are focused on addressing the immediate issue, a comprehensive evaluation is typically not performed at this time. Once the urgent concern is addressed, we may recommend returning for a comprehensive evaluation to assess your overall dental health and prevent future problems.
Same-Day Emergency Appointments
We make every effort to accommodate same-day emergency appointments whenever possible. If you are experiencing discomfort or believe you have a dental emergency, please contact our office as early in the day as possible so we can best assist you.
After-Hours Emergencies
If you experience a dental emergency outside of regular office hours, please contact our office and follow the instructions provided on our voicemail. We will make every effort to respond and guide you on the next steps.
If you are experiencing severe swelling, difficulty breathing, or a medical emergency, please seek immediate care at the nearest emergency room or call 911.
Our Goal
Our goal during an emergency visit is to:
Relieve pain
Identify the cause
Stabilize the situation
Help you move forward with appropriate treatment
We are here to help you through unexpected dental concerns and provide guidance toward long-term oral health.
